Who are we and why does the central OER repository exist?

The »Central Open Educational Resources Repository« (ZOERR) has been set up by the University Library of Tübingen since the beginning of 2017 as part of the »University Network Digitization in Teaching Baden-Württemberg« (HND-BW). It is funded by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for Science and Art. It is implemented in cooperation with partners from the Reutlingen University of Applied Sciences, the University of Freiburg, the University of Stuttgart and the University of Ulm. The project is managed by the University Library of Tübingen, which itself is part of the University's Information, Communication and Media Center (IKM). The service has been in regular operation since December 2018.

The repository is permanently available to all universities in the state of Baden-Württemberg and their partners. In addition, all universities in Germany are invited to participate and use the repository. The ZOERR offers a central place for the publication, exchange and coordinated processing of open teaching and learning materials. The ZOERR aims to address the lack of public learning object repositories (LOR) available at universities in (southern) Germany. For all subject areas and across university boundaries, there should be the opportunity to share teaching and learning materials with each other. Cooperation and synergies should be promoted, and we offer scientists the opportunity to show their teaching expertise – help to make the ZOERR a showcase for university teaching!
The sustainable operation of the repository is ensured as part of the publication services of the University Library of Tübingen. The library, as a classic provider of academic information with its many years of experience as an e-learning service provider, is developing the OER repository as a long-term service in cooperation with committed universities in the country.
